v0.5 || Additional market functionality
OCCA: Open-Closed Card Adventures » Devlog

Summary
This is a minor update. It focuses on adding small features that expand the market system. For example by adding support for different kinds of markets, enabling adventures to use different market types. And adding actions that can interact with cards in the market.
This updates makes the markets less random, and gives players more options on how they interact with them.
New content & features
There 3 biggest things added are:
- New market type:
- Support for multiple market types has been added. At the moment two types are implemented. But the system is built in such a way that new markets can easily be added in the future. Each adventure choses what type of market to use.
- "Sliding row" market:
The "default" market used in previous versions. A set number of cards is discarded each turn. - "Trickle down" market:
A new kind of market. Cards descend one vertical level each turn, cards at the bottom are discarded. This makes cards be available for purchase longer.
- Acquire action:
- A new action where the player can get cards from the market without paying for them. The acquire action can be conditional, for example: Acquire 2 ("Item") cards to hand.
- A new action where the player can get cards from the market without paying for them. The acquire action can be conditional, for example: Acquire 2 ("Item") cards to hand.
- Cost modifiers:
- A system where the cost of cards in the market can either be increased or decreased. Opens up more design space for the future.
- A system where the cost of cards in the market can either be increased or decreased. Opens up more design space for the future.
Future
The next release is going to be much bigger. I see two big paths that could be taken at this moment.
- I could focus on adding more card functionality, which would enlarge the space of available/possible gameplay mechanics. Enabling more interesting combinations and synergies.
- Or I could focus on graphics and interactability. Which would not have a big gameplay impact, but would enable more graphical features and improve structure and readability on the screen. At the moment some features are non-ideal to implement because of the "flat" UI implementation of the cards and their containers.
Which one I will focus on is uncertain at the moment.
